The Saga Method is a systems-informed approach to evaluation that reflects the complexity of real-world conditions.

At its heart is a recognition that programs operate within, and are shaped, by systems. Outcomes aren’t driven by activities and inputs alone, but by the broader structures, relationships, and histories in which they’re embedded.

A thread runs through the method:
We begin by collecting data, from surveys, interviews, literature and records, then follow it downward, examining the deeper system context that shaped what we see. 

From there, we synthesise insight and bring it back to the surface to inform decisions, strengthen strategy, and support change.

The method draws on mixed methods, triangulated data, and systems thinking to explore:

• Process — What was implemented? How, and for whom?
   
• Outcomes — What changed? For whom? Over what timeframe?
   
• System Context — What policies, structures, or cultural conditions shaped delivery and results?
   
• Insight — What meaning can be drawn? What matters now? What needs to shift?
